Remember when this primary score was 1 to 1. Obama - Iowa, Clinton - New Hampshire? I had such high hopes that for the first time in my life the Democratic Party would field a true cohesive team that would drive a steak through the heard of Rove's "permanent Republican Majority." Follow me here: Update: case in point Update 2: How about we adjust the rules and have all remaining primaries happen in 2 weeks and strip the SDs?
The Bush administration is something previously unseen in this country. Cheney is probably more active in making policy and decisions than any VP to date (remember "my pet goat").
I was certain that in November we would be fielding an unbeatable team Obama/Clinton or Clinton/Obama. The order was not that important. I like Edwards a lot, but I did not see his nomination happening.
I had initial reservations about both candidates for the top slot, but in the end I decided that the individual strengths and weaknesses of each candidate would balance itself out and become a formidable force come November.
I have since sided up with Obama, but Clinton has really put me off with her campaign lately. Had I sided with Clinton Obama may have put me off as well, as a result, the dream ticket is in the rearview mirror and we may be helping Rove achieve his "permanent Republican Majority."
The question now is "where do we go from here?" should the Obama supporters continue to hit Clinton until her reputation is destroyed and never a viable candidate for President or should the Clinton supporters continue to hit Obama until his reputation is destroyed?
Only the Democratic Party could offer up quality Candidates like Edwards, Clinton, and Obama only to be defeated by McCain, Romney, and Huckabee.
I do not pretend that politics is not a full contact sport, but I am seeing this country and both of it's parties fragment.
Do we want our candidate to run with only half of his party excited. That would take away the tremendous advantage that we have due to the fracturing republican party.
The Democratic party is a diverse coalition of people with widely varying views. I have heard on the news that Obama supporters will not turn out for Clinton and Clinton supporters will not turn out for Obama. WTF?
I have been guilty of this rhetoric as well and suggested in another diary that I was leaning toward not voting if Clinton gets the nomination, but after further reflection that would not serve my interests.
This is not a football game, this is the person we are hiring to manage our affairs throughout the world. I do not want to hire the third best candidate because the best two destroyed each other.
The Democratic Party has two Candidates separated by a hair in policy. Each of them are preferred by half the party. The Republican Party has one candidate that half of them do not really like. Do you think the Democratic party can actually lose?
How many people will get fed up and just vote for Nader?
