If we go to war with Iran then expect martial law and reinstatement of the draft. Martial law will be necessary to contain the outbreak of protests. And what will happen to election? It either won't be held or will be nullified.

This article was posted on Capitol Hill Blue, Was moved to top-of-the column for the day on Op-Ed News, The Smirking Chimp, here at Diatribune, and has been cross-posted on several other sites. Its done well on Reddit through Justanothercoverup, and comments on several of these sites are supportive and indicative that many Americans believe "enough is enough." It has also been submitted to Buzzflash and right now, has 16 Buzzes and may be close to publication. With your support, it may be published there also.

We have all written about the crimes perpetrated against the American people and the global community by the Bush administration, and to be honest, there is already enough evidence to impeach either of these criminals if Congress would vote their duty and the will of the American people. Do your part. Take the time to email this article to your favorite site administrator, Congressman, or Union Representative or any other way you can think of to muster the support we need to make a strike a reality and bring an end the the abuses in Washington. Today was Independence Day, and it's time that we make it stand for something other then vacations and lining the pockets of our Legislators and Oil Companies.

Enough is enough. Google "Food Shortage" and you will be astounded by the results. The time to take action is now, and we have the ability to make a difference - by simply taking the time to turn concern into action, and action into results. Complacency today could result in your own family facing food shortages - and the US is not immune to the specter or food riots and decreased and expensive food - something none of us are prepared to deal with as gas keeps rising and we have the lowest stock of food on hand on in over 43 years. We all love our country and would die to protect liberty and democracy, but hoping that someone else will come to our rescue has now been proven to be a falsehood - and that includes our own Congress! The jigs up; there is no more time. All of the words have been written that are necessary for us to make a difference - and now we need to act upon our beliefs in "The American Way" and support our Constitution and the rule of law. The family you same may be your own.

Enjoy the rest of your holiday, and then let's take back our nation and demand that Congress fulfill its duty and necessity to represent the people of this nation rather than AIPAC and special interest groups. Good luck, and don't forget that millions of other Americans are also searching for an answer to an administration that seems bent on destroying everything we believe in.

Didn't it tip you off that I might not be a "narrow-minded prohibition supporter" when I talked about 250,000 Americans "wasting long years of their lives in prison" because of "ridiculous drug laws?" How do you expect to write anything worthwhile if you can't quite read?

Adolescent cop-bashing is just a distraction from the infinitely more serious consequences of draconian drug laws written by soulless right-wing legislators and supported by spineless Democrats.

250,000 Americans are serving a total of more than a million years in prison for silly marijuana busts, more than fifty million weeks of hard time, and there aren't many of those inmates who wouldn't take a minor slap-down in return for getting out of prison just one week sooner.

In spite of the elevation of your diatribe on BuzzFlash, it's really worse than worthless, because it confirms the right-wing stereotype that the only critics of our miserable drug laws are cop-bashing teenagers.

But for any intelligent high school kids who happen to read this exchange, I can suggest a much better subject for an essay, and that's the thousands of teenagers whose lives have been destroyed by drug busts in states like Nevada, where possession of one seed automatically classifies you as a dealer.

A low-rent marijuana habit didn't prevent Barack Obama from making good grades and getting into Harvard, but if he had ever been busted with just barely enough weight to classify him as a dealer, he could have ended up just like his homeless friend Keith Kakugawa.

I often say that "Politeness isn't the answer" when making the dubious attempt to educate severely prejudiced people about cannabis reform and you are the poster boy for this fact.

Cannabis prohibition is emotional, not factual. It runs on hype and fear and in YOUR case, the smug ignorance of folks who don't know half what they think they do. Contrary to what a lot of reformers believe, polite renditions of tidy facts go nowhere and stiff confrontation of bullshit attitudes like yours is the more appropriate route to go.

The person with the bullshit attitude -in this case, Jacob Freeze, would be confronted something like this:

...but to offer a response, i suspect the same issues that affect internal politics in the countries you named also drive the decisions regarding their relationship with turkey...and to the extent that is true, it may be that an economically prosperous turkey that's seen as reasonably transparent and under the rule of law (no more coups...) might be the only turkey that gains accession.

in today's environment, that's a condition no single party seems able to acheive.

It's also worth remembering that Turkey has virtually no chance of joining the EU in the foreseeable future, no matter how the ruling about the AKP comes down. Turkish membership would require majority approval by referendum in all current member nations, and public opinion is dead set against it almost everywhere except in England:

I don"t really believe we

I don"t really believe we can hold John responsible for the assets that are not his and have no control over. All I know about taxes is that they have to be paid in a timely manner or trouble will ensue. I do know that some taxes help maintain infrastructure. John says that climate change is an issue he cares about and wants to address. I do not know how his wife cares about the issue, if at all. All I can say is that seven residences leave a pretty large carbon footprint. Maintaining utilities on seven houses isn't contributing to the cause and blows off credibility on this issue out of the water. And let's not forget that at least his wife would qualify for Bush tax cuts to the weathy already. And, I'll bet their income is in a tax sheltered account as well. So they are using vast resources and not paying their fair share for them and it's not ecologically friendly. At least pay for what taxes you have, folks.
